Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 cup self-rising corn meal (not mix)
- 1/2 cup self-rising flour
- 1 1/2 cups cold buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup shortening
- 2 eggs
Preparation Instructions:
Preheat oven to 425F
Mix the buttermilk and baking soda and let set about 5 minutes. If you want to use regular milk do not use the baking soda.
Mix all ingredients thoroughly.
Pour into lightly greased 8x8 pan
Bake for about 35 to 40 minutes
